modern midwifery in the ancient tradition
Get together with like-minded folks!
In Due Thyme is dedicated to helping women connect with other women and families in the Shenandoah Valley. Please see if any of these opportunities are right up your alley and will help you as you go through pregnancy and labor and postpartum seasons.
There are two immediate local opportunities for you. They are for you to become familiar with and be encouraged by women in your area that are in childbearing or other phases of their womanhood who want to support and encourage you as you go through your pregnancy. Please tap into these resources and use them!

Our Mission
To improve the culture of birth in Virginia by promoting an evidence-based model of maternity care and supporting care providers who practice mother friendly care.
Who We Are
We are a statewide organization with local groups of parents and professionals who share information, offer support, and affirm the rights of women and families to make informed choices throughout the childbearing years. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. We have no religious or political affiliation.
Our Vision
We envision pregnant women embraced by their communities, encouraged to trust the journey, discovering their strength and the transformational power of birth.
What We Do
We educate our communities through and classes, video viewings, library displays, guest speakers. We provide support with online yahoo group (for members), website, and resources to help women and their families. We network with the birthing community by supporting caregivers who provide evidence-based care, distributing a statewide newsletter, holding events that bring people together to discuss birth.
What is the Trust Birth Initiative?
The Trust Birth Initiative is an old/new concept in the birth field.
Women talking to women about birth.
Not another expert, not another class.
We facilitate discussion/support groups.
Meetings are usually in leader’s home, but may be in a library or church or community center.
The meetings are usually held one night a month or bi-monthly in the Strasburg, Virginia area. Next meeting scheduled for JUNE 8, 2010 at 6:00-8:00 pm.
